I miss those days,
when I rode my BMX
bike out of my garage.
Ride down the drive-way
onto the sidewalk.
And cycle to Desiree's house.
Where I would spend my
afternoons after school.
School was a few blocks away-
Benito Juarez School.
I miss the days,
when I would ride around the
cul-ta-sack at Ellie's house.
When I was studying in Sunkist,
I was babysitted by her mom.
Her house, to me, was like a
miniature zoo.
In actual fact, her grandma was a Zoo-keeper.
They had birds, dogs,
chinchillas, reptiles.
You name it, they had it.
But soon I moved and we grew apart.
I miss the days,
when I would be the last kid
to go home cause my mom was always so late.
I miss standing alone,
looking around hoping to spot mom's Pontiac.
I miss those days,
when I would go to slumber parties,
only to be picked up at mid-night
because my mom didn't
like the idea of me staying over
at friend's houses.
I miss those days,
when I would get milk in a
plastic like container.
Like a zip-lock without the zip.
I miss those days,
when mommy treated me like her
Unika-eha(her only one),
when she saw me as her little girl.
I miss those days,
when Halloween was fun.
When I would dress-up and
go trick-or-treating.
those days,
